Making connections at Oxford University

We’ve been working hard at Oxford University to provide a data network that will support their LAN, Telephony, AV and wireless coverage at its Saïd Business School.

The School is being extended to provide the additional facilities required for an expansion of its teaching and executive education activities.
Working with construction contractor Chalegrove Properties Ltd, Structured Cabling has installed 1,300 outlets throughout the building providing extensive AV networking facilities to three lecture theatres, as well as wireless coverage, and 40G capable fibre backbones linking four wiring centres within the building.

The expected completion date for the expansion project is Summer 2012.

Networking at Oxford Brookes

Structured Cabling has installed 1,000 outlets to provide data and telephony services to every student room in Oxford Brookes University’s new Harcourt Hill halls of residence.
We’ve also added wireless coverage throughout, with Cisco network switches to support the data network, and single mode fibres connecting the Halls to OBU core network.

The Harcourt Hill halls of residence comprises predominantly 6-bed cluster flats with some small flats for couples, and two blocks to allow separate accommodation for postgraduates. The development has a degree of future proofing as there is space for an additional block to be added which can be configured differently if required.

Online at First Line

We’ve put the pedal to the metal for automotive OE component distributor First Line, installing a Cat 6A solution providing 10G capability throughout its new storage and distribution facility next to the M40 at Banbury.

We’ve also added support for VoIP and complete wireless coverage throughout the building, with a Siemon Zmax 10G and a Cisco Switch solution designed to eliminate single points of failure.
